CLAYTON — The suspect in a rape case that has been connected to two murders is now charged with assaulting a woman.
Lavor Harmon, 39, of Ferguson, was charged Monday with one count of second-degree domestic assault. Police said on July 6 he pushed a woman and strangled her.

Harmon was arrested days later, on the evening of July 10, on four rape charges filed against him in May.
In that case, he's accused of meeting a 15-year-old girl who was walking home from school. The two exchanged phone numbers and, on March 21, Lavor took her shopping and then to her house, where he sexually assaulted her, charges say.
Ten days after the rape charges were filed, Harmon's older sister, Lavonda Harmon, showed up to the home of Kcoree Warren, the man who reported the teen's sexual assault.

Lavonda Harmon and an unidentified man offered Warren $12,000 to stay quiet in the case against Lavor, police said in charging documents.
Warren refused the money, police said. And six weeks later he was shot and killed at his home.
Then, just hours after Warren's murder, the man suspected of shooting him was found in ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½, shot dead. A car seen leaving Warren's home was found nearby and had been burned, a prosecutor wrote in court documents.
Authorities last week tied the two men’s murders to the rape case against Lavor.
Authorities have not publicly identified a suspect in the second man's killing.
Lavor remains in custody on a $2 million cash-only bond. He is set for a bond hearing next week.

Lavonda Harmon
His sister, Lavonda, was charged with tampering with a witness in connection to the bribe police say she offered Warren.
She posted a $100,000 cash-only bond after being arrested, court records say.
