Who and where: Koji Barrette of Clayton and his dad, Ernie-Paul Barette of Frontenac on the Inca Trail in Peru.
The trip: They spent four days hiking the trail in May 2024. The graduation trip started in Cuzco, Peru, where they spent four days acclimating to the altitude before hiking. Cusco is 11,152 feet in elevation.
Travel tip: “While Machu Picchu is spectacular and hiking into it from the Sun Gate early in the morning was a true memory, it was also challenging. It was achievable for someone who is in shape,†wrote Ernie-Paul. “One great feature of the Inca Trail is that there are many Inca ruins along the trail.â€
